The Hoover SteamVac is a line of steam vacuum cleaners manufactured by Hoover. Instead of pure suction like other vacuum cleaners do, these cleaners instead use a combination of suction and steam to clean and dry carpets.

The F6215-900 Hoover SteamVac Agility Carpet Cleaner and the Hoover F5837900 SteamVac Supreme is part of this series. Of all the other models, they have been able to garner the most positive reviews out of buyers and of the product.

A deep carpet cleaner, the F6215-900 features Clean Surge functionality for heavy-duty cleaning. The Clean Surge makes it easy to remove worst types of dirt, including stains made by your pets. Using forced air, the machine heats up the cleaning solution and the carpet it is applied to so that it is easy to remove the dirt, and so that it would dry up quickly.

It actually makes a less noise than a normal vacuum cleaner would. It is also very easy to maneuver, with its handle that is so ergonomic to the point that it almost feels sensual when used. The setup of the F6215-900’s main unit and tank attachment, because it is easy to see if the tank is already full and if you are actually sucking in water or not.

All attachments easily pop, saving users from having broken nails when trying to remove them. The tanks pop up with a push of a button, saving you time from removal and refilling, and buying you more time for cleaning.

The cleaning process is simple: when cleaning carpets, you can use a mixture of hot tap water and a cleaning solution. This solution is then brushed into the carpets, and then vacuumed up with the water the cleaner pulls up.

This Hoover SteamVac unit is turned on and off with a toe operated switch. This means you don’t have to stoop down to turn it on. You can just stand there and clean it, and use your foot to turn the machine on and off.

The Hoover SteamVac is capable of forward and reverse movement when cleaning. You don’t have to operate it like you would a mop. Instead, the machine does it on its own for you. It also adjusts itself for working in different carpet heights.

User Feedback

User feedback for the Hoover F5837900 has been few in Amazon, one of the largest sources of information just about anything that is being sold. Despite the minimal amount of reviews, most of them have been positive about this model of the Hoover SteamVac series.

The F5837900 is user friendly, and does the job of deep carpet and floor cleaning well. It was able to clean the combined dirt brought about by a toddler, and by 3 dogs from the carpet of one user. It also managed to thoroughly clean a cat’s futon of shedded cat fur.

However, such wonderful results could not been achieved by one cleaning alone. One user had to do pretreating and repeated cleaning in order to get the thorough cleaning that she wished, but it did clean well. The cleaner’s bare floor attachment also failed to stay on the floor. The F5837900 did a disappointing job cleaning bare vinyl floors as well.
