Cordless Power with Shark Sweeper Vacuums: Your Choices

September 8th, 2009

Shark sweeper vacuums are cordless wonders that are manufactured by Euro-Pro. Cordless means that they don’t use power from an outlet; hence they eliminate the need for a power cord. Instead, these vacuum cleaners work on a rechargeable battery.

They are called sweepers because they sweep dust using a brush instead of suction. This dust tray is easy to empty, and does not require replacement.

There are two models of Shark sweeper vacuums: The UV617 13-inch 3-speed cordless sweeper and the V1725 Quick-and-Quiet 10-inch cordless sweeper. Here are two short overviews as well as customer feedback for these products.

UV617. As its name infers, the UV617 can operate on 3 speeds, all of which you can electronically control and select. Its swivel-head design makes it easy for you turn it around during cleaning. With wall hugging technology, its powerful brush can grab the dirt from corners and along the walls.

The handle can be telescoped for easy storage, and also for cleaning low areas like under furniture and beds. The cleaner can also be stored using a wall-mounted, battery recharging stand.

Although there are only a few reviews for the UV617 cordless Shark sweeper vacuum cleaner in Amazon, a big majority of them were positive.

The UV617 has been found to be extremely effective in removing pet hair off the carpet. Although it doesn’t have a HEPA filter like other vacuum cleaners, the sweeper doesn’t kick up dust. It is also very durable, and lasts a long time, although one review noted that the battery wasn’t able to charge anymore after a year and a half.

In one case, the sweeper was so quiet that it doesn’t even appear or sound threatening to a 20-month old baby. It is apparently very user friendly, as a 9-year-old child managed to use it to vacuum his bedroom.

A recurring negative feedback, however, is the fact that its handle tends to break easily at the base. There had also been problems with the battery recharging process, because in some cases they fail to recharge themselves rendering the UV617 units useless.

Euro-Pro Shark V1725- Quiet, light and maneuverable, users are supposed to find it wonderful to use. This Shark sweeper vacuum has been designed to be able to clean up various kinds of messes like mud and Cheerios. It is also intended for use on both bare floors and carpets.

Packing only 5 pounds of weight, the V1725 is not a monster for you to lift and carry around when cleaning the whole house or multiple parts of it. With the absence of power cords, there is no danger of tripping over a cord.

Like its brother, the V1725 is equipped with a swiveling head so that you can easily reach tight corners as well as areas under furniture. It is convertible to a handheld version, which means you can use it to clean stairs, upholstery and even cars. This is useful when you have pets like cats, who sometimes find their way up to your couches.

The V1725 Shark sweeper vacuum is capable of cleaning a path as wide as 10 inches, and can run up to a maximum of 30 minutes on full batteries. Like the UV617, the V1725 uses a dust tray instead of bags or even dust bins.

The sweeper is actually very effective in removing not only messes, but also fragments of glass, nails, screws, paper (but not crumpled paper), and dust, among others. However, one may possibly encounter problems cleaning off the sweeper’s bristles because hair unfortunately gets tangled in them.
